The Lelung Dharma Trust

Lelung Dharma Trust was founded in 2000 by H.E. the 11th Lelung Rinpoche. The Lelung Dharma Trust is a registered UK charity based in London (Charity no. 1079844).

The spiritual director of the Trust is the 11th Lelung Rinpoche (Tulku). The current trustees are Lelung Rinpoche, Connie Dusek, Maureen Phillips and Tessa Heron. The main aims of the trust include:

  • The advancement of public education in the culture and way of life to Tibetan people and the subject of Tibetan Buddhism

  • The advancement of the Buddhist faith through meditation and religious observance and through provision of financial support to Buddhist monks, nuns and other members

  • The relief of poverty, sickness and distress and the advancement of education of people in Tibet and elsewhere

After receiving his Geshe degree from Drepung Monastery in South India, Lelung Rinpoche was invited by Peter Gregory to visit the UK in 1994 for the first time. During that trip, Sogyal Rinpoche introduced Lelung Rinpoche to his students while teaching at Rigpa UK.

Through this recommendation, a number of students were connected with Lelung Rinpoche and his work. Many years later, when he decided to establish a charitable trust in the UK, he was assisted by Jasmine Koller, Maureen Elliott, and members of the Lelung Dharma Centre in London.
